gender segregated toys? Is it that big of a deal?
My son has a little boy baby doll. He also has a set of dishes. Of course, he also has dump trucks, cars, farm animals and tool sets. SOmeone told me today just barely, while at my house, that I need to watch him with his doll, or I might have a ‘problem’ in a few years. I was like, “What kind of problem?” Does the possession of a traditionally feminine toy really do any harm? I always thought that the buddy doll and the dishes would nurture his parenting skills, and teach him about cooking (gordan ramsey is a great cook) Am I right to allow and encourage my son to play with a variety of things, or am I as strange as this other person made me feel?
that person is crazy. how many little boys out in the world imitated their mothers or big sisters since the beginning of time? how many little girls imitated their fathers or big brothers since the beginning of time? every single one. that fool was probably insinuating that it could “make” him gay. idiots. idiots should be ignored.
there is nothing wrong with a boy playing with a doll, or dishes (ps men can clean too) or “girlie” things. there is nothing wrong with a girl playing with dinosaurs, cars, trucks, and anything else deemed “boyish.”
