How do you encourage your two year old boy to pick up his toys?
I cannot get my 2 year old to pick up his toys. He goes to a daycare and doesn’t seem to have a problem with it there. I end up having to pick them up myself. I try picking them up with him, taking them away if he doesn’t pick them up, and making a game out of it. I’m a single mom who needs help with a whining boy.
You do need to make it fun and you’ll have to help him the first few times. Get down on the floor and make a game out of it. First spot a specific toy, like a red car, then say “can you find the red car?” When he does, then ask him if he knows where it goes. Once you help him clean up a few times, he’ll thens start doing it on his own.
It would be wonderful if once you said “clean up time”, the babes would just go and clean up but that is never going to happen. Try fun games and he’ll learn that picking up toys is fun.
